Charlo
Carlos José Pérez, known as Charlo, was born on 7 July 1906 in Guatraché,
Argentina, and became a singer, pianist, actor, and composer. He studied at the
Santa Cecilia Conservatory, the Rafael Ortega Conservatory, and the Orestes
Conservatory, and made his first radio appearances on Radio Cultura, where he
adopted the stage name Charlo. In 1925, he signed with RCA Victor and recorded
tangos such as "Costurerita" and "Pobre varón", establishing his presence in
