Charley Crockett was born Matthew Charles Crockett on March 24 1984 in
San Benito, Texas, and grew up in a trailer park in Los Fresnos before moving to
Dallas. He taught himself guitar and songwriting after leaving high school at
17, busking in New York and later forming the street band Train Robbers, which
attracted a Sony Music representative. In 2015 he self‑released A Stolen Jewel,
followed by In the Night (2016) and Lil G.L.'s Honky Tonk Jubilee (2017).
