Charles Edmond Gaston Leveel, known professionally as Charles Level, was born on
June 17, 1934, in Cherbourg, France. He started his career as a singer, debuting
on the radio in 1958 and later joining Mireille's Petit Conservatoire de la
chanson. With his group Les Carnaval's, he recorded covers of popular songs.
Level gained prominence as a lyricist, writing for notable artists including
Mireille Mathieu, Dalida, Charles Aznavour, and Marcel Amont. He contributed
