Catacombs
Catacombs, a funeral doom solo project, was founded in 2003 by John “Xathagorra
Mlandroth” del Russi. Their music was inspired by Lovecraftian horror and the
Cthulhu Mythos. The project released the CDr Echoes Through the Catacombs
through Antinomian in 2003, which was reissued and remastered in 2007 by
Solitude Productions. In 2006, the full‑length album In the Depths of R'lyeh was
released on Moribund Records, earning international positive reviews and being
cited as a key release in funeral doom metal. The project became inactive in
2016 but returned in the 2020s.
