Cassandra Fowlkes, born on 4 December 1955 in Jackson, Mississippi, was an
American jazz singer, songwriter, and producer whose career spanned three
decades. After early performances in local clubs, she issued her debut album
Point Of View in 1986, followed by Days Aweigh (1987), Blue Skies (1988), and a
series of recordings in the early 1990s including Jumpworld (1990), Live (1991),
She Who Weeps (1991), After the Beginning Again (1991), and
Dance to the Drums Again (1992), which established her as a distinctive voice in
