Casey Janice Hobbs, known professionally as Casey J, was born on June 29, 1986,
in Atlanta, Georgia. She is an American singer who grew up immersed in gospel
music, with both her mother and grandmother singing in the choir at Lilly Hill
Baptist Church. At age 12, she joined the Atlanta Young Singers of Callanwolde
and sang with them until she enrolled at the University of Georgia. After
graduation, she became an elementary school math teacher and also sang as a
worship leader at Fresh Start Church.
