Carol Douglas, born on April 7, 1948, in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York
City, is an American singer. At age 10, she won a game show and was featured in
Ebony for three years. She attended Quintano High School alongside notable
alumni such as Gregory Hines and Bernadette Peters. Douglas started her music
career with a recording for RCA Victor under the name Carolyn Cooke, but it was
cut short by an early pregnancy. In 1974, Midland International Records
