Carlos Vega was a Cuban-born, Los Angeles-based session drummer whose career
spanned the late 1970s through the 1990s. He co-founded the band Karizma in 1975
with musicians including Michael Landau, David Garfield, and Lenny Castro. Vega
worked across numerous musical styles but was particularly known for his 13-year
association with James Taylor, appearing on several albums like Hourglass, Never
Die Young, and New Moon Shine. His credits also included Olivia Newton-John’s
