Cairo Steps
Cairo Steps is an international Sufi-inspired oriental jazz band comprising
German and Egyptian musicians. Egyptian composer and musician Bassem Darwish
founded the group in 2002 with German pianist and composer Matthias Frey. The
band combines traditional Egyptian and Middle Eastern music with jazz
improvisation, classical music, electronic sounds, and contemporary influences.
Cairo Steps has toured internationally and performed at prominent venues
including the Frankfurt Opera, Hamburg Opera, Prinzregententheater in Munich,
