Caesar, an indie rock trio from Amsterdam, was formed in 1994 by Roald van
Oosten and Marit de Loos. The band's lineup was completed with Sem Bakker on
bass. Within a month of formation, Caesar released their first demo. They later
signed with Excelsior Recordings, then known as (Nothing sucks like) Electrolux,
releasing the single "Goodbye To Barruschna" in 1995 and their debut album Clean
in 1996. The album received positive reviews and charted on OOR's Moordlijst.
Caesar was awarded the Silver Harp for most promising new act of the year in
