Burro Banton (born Donovan Spalding on December 27, 1956, in Kingston, Jamaica)
is a Jamaican dancehall and reggae deejay who rose to prominence during the
digital dancehall boom of the 1980s. He began performing on sound systems in the
late 1970s before joining Gemini, Volcano, Kilimanjaro, and other influential
crews. His debut album, Buro (1983), launched a recording career that included
The Original Banton (1995). Burro is best known for the hit single "Boom Wah
