Many see Conor Oberst, lead singer and essential member of this "fake" folk-rock band, as a worthy descendant of Bob Dylan or Leonard Cohen, or at any rate as one of the most brilliant exponents of Americana. He is one of the most prolific songwriters of the 2000s.
