Boris Berman
Boris Berman, born on April 3, 1948, in Moscow, is a Soviet‑American pianist and
teacher. He studied under Lev Oborin at the Moscow Conservatory and debuted in
1965, later collaborating with composers such as Alfred Schnittke and Edison
Denisov. In 1973, he left the Soviet Union for Israel and in 1979 emigrated to
the United States, where he taught at Boston University, Brandeis University,
Indiana University, and headed the Yale School of Music Piano Department. He
