Bobbye Hall
Bobbye Jean Hall, born in 1950 in Detroit, Michigan, is an American
percussionist with a career spanning jazz, pop, and rock. She began playing in
Detroit nightclubs, and in 1961, Motown arranger Paul Riser hired her for
uncredited sessions that contributed to many 1960s Motown hits. In 1970, she
moved to Los Angeles, becoming one of few female session musicians. She added
congas to the Temptations' “Sorry Is a Sorry Word” and bongos to Marvin Gaye’s
“Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)”. Her session credits include Bill
