Roberto Arturo "Bobby" Carcassés Cuza, born on August 29, 1938 in Kingston,
Jamaica, is a Cuban jazz musician and songwriter. He began his career as an
operatic singer before transitioning to Cuban music, performing at the Tropicana
club where he integrated scat and bebop influences into his singing. In 1958-59,
Carcassés toured with Rumbo al Waldorf across the USA, Europe, and the USSR, and
upon returning to Cuba, he formed his own jazz band. In 1980, he organized the
