Robert Bloom, born on 15 January 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, was an American
singer-songwriter whose career was marked by a blend of pop, calypso, and rock
influences. In the early 1960s, he was a member of the doo-wop group The
Imaginations. His own breakthrough came in 1969 when he secured a contract to
write and record a jingle for Pepsi, which laid the foundation for his later
success. He co-wrote "Mony Mony" for Tommy James and the Shondells and
"Sunshine" for The Archies, and later contributed songs to the Monkees' album
