Bob Merrill
Bob Merrill, born Henry Robert Merrill Levan on May 17, 1921, in Atlantic City,
New Jersey, was an American songwriter, theatrical composer, lyricist, and
screenwriter. After serving in World War II, he moved to Hollywood and began his
music career writing songs for Dorothy Shay’s hit album Park Avenue Hillbilly.
He earned a hit with "(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window?" recorded by
Patti Page in 1952. Merrill's notable works include "If I Knew You Were Comin'
I'd've Baked a Cake" and "Mambo Italiano". He made his Broadway debut in 1957
with New Girl in Town, followed by Tak...
