Billy Kilson
William Earl Kilson, known professionally as Billy Kilson, was born on August 2,
1962 in Washington, D.C.. He began his musical journey on trumpet before
switching to trombone and eventually settling on drums at sixteen. After
studying at Berklee College of Music and private lessons with Alan Dawson, he
embarked on a European tour with Walter Davis. Kilson’s career progressed
through collaborations with Ahmad Jamal, Dianne Reeves, George Duke, and Bob
