William Allen Mays, known professionally as Bill Mays, and born on February 5,
1944, in Sacramento, California, is a jazz pianist. He developed an interest in
jazz at age 15 after attending an Earl Hines concert. From 1969 to the early
1980s, Mays worked as a studio session musician in Los Angeles, accompanying
notable singers such as Al Jarreau, Peggy Lee, and Frank Sinatra. In 1984, Mays
