The Canadian frontman Ian Thornley formed Big Wreck with guitarist Brian Doherty
and bass player Dave Henning in 1992, while all three musicians were attending
the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Originally known as
"Still Waters," the group performed locally and released the debut album In
Loving Memory Of... in 1998. "The Oaf (My Luck Is Wasted)" peaked at number 9 on
Billboard's Mainstream Rock Chart, with "That Song" going to number 32. In
