No man is a prophet in his own country, and Big Soul - guitarist Kelleth Chinn,
charismatic bassist and vocalist Caroline Wampole and drummer Deane Jenkins -
failed to break through in the U.S. despite a long series of concerts in their
native California between 1989 and 1995. It was in France, therefore, that the
trio first came to public attention with the hit "Le Brio (branchez la
