Begoña Olavide
Begoña Olavide, born in 1960, is a Spanish artist specializing in
Arab-Andalusian music. She earned her flute degreee at Madrid Royal Conservatory
of Music before studying in Netherlands, Yugoslavia, Morocco, where she expanded
her knowledge of Andalusian music theory and performance. In 1996, she released
the album Salterio and Mudejar in 1997, followed by Cartas al rey moro in 1998.
Olavide founded the group Calamus, touring Europe, Israel, Canada, South
America, Japan, and was a member of Jordi Savall’s Hesperion XXI. She also
