Beatya Palya, born November 11, 1976, in Makó, Hungary, is a Hungarian folk
singer, songwriter, and performer known for blending Hungarian folk traditions
with world music influences. Raised in Bag, she began singing and dancing in a
local folk ensemble at age six before studying ethnography at ELTE University.
After performing with groups including Zurgó, Laokoón, and Folkestra, she
studied in Paris with Indian singer Kakoli Sengupta and launched her solo career
