Banda Calypso
Banda Calypso, a Brazilian brega pop band, was formed in the late 1990s in
Belém, Pará, by guitarist and producer Cledivan A. Farias, also known as
"Chimbinha," and his wife, singer and choreographer Joelma da Silva Mendes. The
duo began their musical journey with Joelma's solo album, which transitioned
into the band's debut release, Banda Calypso Volumen 1. Their breakthrough came
with the single "Vendaval", which gained regional success. The band's success
