Baker Knight
Thomas Baker Knight Jr., known professionally as Baker Knight, was an American
songwriter, singer, and guitarist born in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 4, 1933.
After learning guitar in the U.S. Air Force, Knight formed the rockabilly group
Baker Knight and the Knightmares in 1956, releasing their debut single “Bop
Boogie to the Blues” before relocating to Hollywood in 1958 to pursue
songwriting. Encouraged by Sharon Sheeley and Eddie Cochran, he wrote “Lonesome
Town” and “I Got a Feeling” for Ricky Nelson in 1958. He subsequently authored
