B.V.S.M.P.
BVSMP were an American hip-hop trio formed in 1987 by Calvin Williams, Frederick
Eugene Byrd, and Percy Nathan Rodgers. The group were talent-spotted by singer
and producer Stevie B in Florida, who helped shape their early sound. Their
breakthrough came with the single "I Need You", which gained traction in
European clubs after a US DJ brought their material overseas. In January 1988,
"I Need You" entered the German charts at number three, followed by entries in
Austria, Switzerland, and England. The accompanying album, The Best Belong
