As Baías
(As Baias)
As Baías, a musical trio, was formed in 2011 at the University of São Paulo by
Raquel Virgínia, Assucena Assucena, and Rafael Acerbi, who met in a history
class. Initially known as As Bahias e a Cozinha Mineira, the trio began
performing at campus gatherings, drawing influence from Gal Costa and Clube da
Esquina. The band released their debut album Mulher in 2015, followed by Bixa in
2017. Their third album Tarântula followed in 2019 under Universal Music Brasil,
earning a Latin Grammy nomination. They launched their first EP Enquanto Estamos
Distantes in 2020 during the COVID‑19...
