Anup Jalota
Anup Jalota, born Anup Purushottamdas Jalota on July 29, 1953, in Nainital,
Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand), India, is an Indian bhajan and ghazal singer,
musician, and actor. Hailing from a Punjabi Hindu family connected to the Sham
Chaurasia gharana, he studied at the Bhatkhande Music Institute and earned a
Bachelor of Arts from the University of Lucknow. He began his career as a chorus
singer at All India Radio before performing as a solo devotional singer. His
devotional recordings include the bhajans “Aisi Lagi Lagan”, “Main Nahi Makhan
