Annie Cordy, real name Léonie Cooreman (born in Laeken on June 16, 1928), embarked on an artistic career at an early age. A singing competition she won at sixteen opened the door to song. A dancer, singer and revue hostess, she made her debut at the Boeuf sur le Toit, then, in 1951, at the Lido in Paris. A fixture of Parisian nights and the Tour de France, she sang in Francis Lopez's operetta La Route fleurie, alongside Bourvil and Georges Guétary, then was hired by Sacha Guitry for the film Si Versailles m'était conté, followed by the filmed operetta Le Chanteur de Mexico with L...
