Amoeba is an experimental music group from California, United States, formed in
1992 by ambient musician Robert Rich and guitarist/bassist Rick Davies. The
first version of Amoeba released their debut album Eye Catching in 1993. After
this lineup dissolved, Davies joined Rich to form a new version of Amoeba with a
style blending slow, hypnotic pop compositions and ambient textures. This
iteration released two albums: Watchful (1997) and Pivot (2000). After the
release of Pivot, Davies pursued a solo career in Tucson, Arizona, while Rich
continued his prolific solo work.
