Al Hibbler

Albert George Hibbler, born on August 16, 1915, in Tyro, Mississippi, was an American baritone vocalist who sang with Duke Ellington's orchestra before achieving success as a solo artist. Blind from birth, Hibbler began his musical journey at the Arkansas School for the Blind and later performed locally in Little Rock. He joined Jay McShann’s band in 1942 and subsequently became part of Duke Ellington's orchestra in 1943, replacing Herb Jeffries.
