Al Fairweather
Alastair Fairweather, born June 12, 1927, in Edinburgh, Scotland, and died June
21, 1993, in Edinburgh, was a British jazz trumpeter and bandleader. After
attending the Royal High School and the Edinburgh College of Art, Fairweather
completed his National Service in Egypt and returned to Scotland, where he
co-founded a jazz band with Sandy Brown in 1949. The group relocated to London
in 1953, added drummer Stan Greig, and recorded several albums for Esquire
Records as the Sandy Brown and the Fairweather-Brown All-Stars, including
