Against Me! is an American punk rock band formed in 1997 in Naples, Florida, by Laura Jane Grace. Initially a solo project, Grace played guitar and sang while occasionally collaborating with other musicians for bass and drums. The band's first demo, Against Me!, was released in 1997. In 2002, they released their debut album, Reinventing Axl Rose, under No Idea Records. Their subsequent albums, As the Eternal Cowboy (2003) and Searching for a Former Clarity (2005), showcased a shift towards rock music.
