Afro-X, born Cristian de Souza Augusto on November 10, 1973, in São Bernardo do
Campo, Brazil, is a rapper, educator, and activist whose career reflects a
profound personal transformation and commitment to social justice. Emerging from
the challenges of incarceration, he co-founded the influential rap group 509-E
with Dexter while both were imprisoned in Carandiru Penitentiary. The group
gained national attention with their debut album Provérbios 13 (2000), featuring
tracks like "Oitavo Anjo," and followed up with MMII DC (2002 Depois de Cristo)
