Adam Matyszkowicz, born 18 August 1940 in Cieszyn Silesia, Hnojník, is a
Polish‑Canadian jazz pianist and composer who began performing in local clubs in
the late 1950s. He entered the recording scene with Unit (1973) and the live
album Live Embers (1975), establishing his reputation in modern jazz. Subsequent
releases-The Name Is Makowicz (1983), Swiss Encounter (1988), the Duke Ellington
tribute Adam Makowicz Plays Duke Ellington (2000), and Songs for Manhattan
