Aaron Scott, born June 19, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois, is an American composer
and jazz drummer. He began playing multiple instruments as a child, focusing on
drums by age nine. Scott studied at Berklee College of Music from 1982 to 1985,
followed by conducting studies at the Boston Conservatory and École Normale de
Musique de Paris. In 1986, he became a founding member of the Orchestre National
de Jazz, serving as drummer and assistant conductor under François Jeanneau.
Scott's 14-year tenure with McCoy Tyner from 1989 was marked by three Grammy
