American R&B group 9.9 formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1985. The trio
consisted of Margo Thunder, Leslie Jones, and Wanda Perry, who were friends and
students at Madison Park High School. They began performing on street corners
and at Boston Common before answering an advertisement in the Boston Phoenix to
perform in clubs under the name Margo Thunder and Intrigue. The group signed to
RCA Records and released their debut album 9.9 in Summer 1985, which reached
number 79 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and number 15 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums
